‘Whereas John Heywood of Sampford Courtenay had formerly a pention of forty shillings per annum as a maymed souldier but his said pention was afterwards reduced to 20 s. per annum And whereas the said John Heywood is now growne aged & very infirme and his constant loyalty vnto & good service of his late Majestie appearing vnto this Courte by the information of Bartholemew Gidley esquire vnder whose Command hee served It is therefore ordered that hee be restored to his said former pention of forty shillings per annum to be paid vnto him by the Treasurer for the maymed souldiers of this County by quarterly payments till further order And hee is to have tenne shillings in hand.’
