‘Whereas John Evans, a maymed souldier, [who] hath a pencion of £4 yearely allowed to him, hath peticioned to have his sayd pencion for one yeare beforehand, whereby to inable him to provide himselfe a dwelling house, whereof he is now destitute, it is ordered that the Treasurer for maymed souldiers shall pay unto him the summe of foure pounds for & in lieu of his sayd pencion for one whole yeare to be due & ending at Easter sessions next, and not to have or demand any more till July 1657’.
