Presumably the payment was 2 s. for each man but this is not stated explicitly in the entry. Ward and Dyer were two of Colonel Webb's soldiers [i.e. London Brigade] and were wounded at Shelford in November 1645. The payment was made to allow them to bear their charges towards London. Warrant signed by Gervase Pigott and Nicholas Charlton. Receipt endorsed with the marks of Dyer and Ward.
