Dewes had been in parliament's service and 'growne into povertie & weaknes[s] through Infirmities & Lamenes[s], w[hi]ch hath disabled him to gett his liveinge'. He reported that the Studley Overseers of the Poor 'abraid [upbraid] him w[i]th his Service telling him that hee had made a foolish Voyage and now should suffer for it', instead of 'shewing Compassion to him and releiving him'. Ordered that the Studley Overseers pay Dewes 2 s. weekly and if they refused, they were to be bound over to the next sessions to explain themselves.
