'Uppon the humble peticion of John Cuffe of Sherborne, that he having served his majestie King Charles the first & his nowe majestie in the late wars, & never deserted that service, for which he hath hitherto not received any reward according to the late Acte of Parliament in that behalf made, And whereas it is certified to this court by the honourable Collonel Francis Wyndham, that the said John Cuffe was a trooper in the said Collonel Wyndham’s regiment in the castle of Dunster, att which tyme hee did behave himselfe vallient & did very good service, And therefore it is desired by the said Collonel that he might have a reward for such his said service according to the said act of parliament. This court having taken the same into consideracion and being fully satisfied with the truth of the premisses doe thereupon order that Robert Coker, Esquire, Treasurer for the westerne parte of this county, pay unto the sayd John Cuffe the summe of fower pounds for a reward for his said service, whose receipt together with this order shal be a sufficient warrant, to have the same allowed on his accoumpte.'
