Notes

Blinkhorne had served his late Majesty of ever-blessed memory as a soldier, under the command of Captain Barty [Bertie?], as a cornet under Colonel Thomas Beddingfield, and as a lieutenant of horse under Captain [?Christwood] Wright. Blinkhorne’s service included Edgehill, Marston Moor, Pontefract, Naseby, Newark and divers other places. [Beddingfield’s regiment was broken up in Lincoln in 1643 when he was taken prisoner. A Lieutenant John Blenkhorn of Lincolnshire appears in column 34 of the 1663 List, indicating that he had served in Colonel James Cromwell’s regiment of horse.]
