fol. 33: It was ordered that Mr Brought, the clerk of the peace, should deliver back to John Baxter, who received some wounds in Parliament’s service, the certificate which was written on his behalf by the Lord Protector, who was then Lord General, at Baxter’s earnest request. Baxter then promised not to further trouble this county. It was further ordered that Baxter be given a gratuity of 10 s. to defray his charges in returning to Billericay, the place of his habitation.
