John Ashby of Chesham produced a certificate that, on 25 April 1660, he was ‘actually a Souldier in the regiment of Andrew, Lord Rutherford, Lord Governor of his Majesties Towne and Garison of Dunkirk, in Lieuten[an]t Colonell Norwood’s Company, under the Comand of the late George, Duke of Albemarle’. He was now very infirm and near the age of 80. Ashby was awarded a pension of 40 s. per annum, with 2 s. 6 d. for a copy of this order.
