"Whereas it appeareth … yt Walter Yolland of Charlton was a faithfull souldier in the service of the common wealth & was starved to death in the prison at Lydford by the inhumane dealing of the enemy, who left Joane his wife a very poore widdow in much misery ever since & must have perished had not the charity of well affected persons been extended to her, It is ordered that the Treasurer for the maymed souldiers … doe forthwith pay unto the said Joane Yolland the summe of fifty shillings for her present reliefe."
