"Whereas John Head of Staverton received a shott through ye shoulder being in the service of the common wealth under ye comand of Arthur Upton esquire at the siedge of Dartmouth of which shott he dyed leaving his wife very poore & in a meane condition. It is therefore ordered that the Treasurer for maymed souldiers doe forthwith pay unto Joan Head his relict forty shillings towards her releife."
