Notes

Taken by the Commission of Array in Granby in 1644, and subsequently served Charles I in the civil war, in the garrison at Newark and other places. He received various wounds in his body and limbs, which have disabled him from earning a living. He is now destitute, and has no habitation. The court ordered that Tingle be sent to Granby, provided with accommodation and maintained by the parish, in order that he is not forced to wander and become a vagrant. In regards of his wounds, and his inability to earn a living, the Court ordered a pension of 40 s. per annum out of the county stock, to be paid quarterly until further notice.
