Notes

The payment was an unspecified allowance from the parish overseers. Context suggests that Bromhead might have been a lamed parliamentarian veteran. He was lame and impotent, and not able to maintain himself. There was presently no certain place of abode, nor anywhere legally settled for many years. The Justices concluded that his last place of settlement was St Benedict’s parish in the City of Lincoln. They ordered that the overseers of the poor for the said parish do forthwith provide him with houseroom and an allowance.
