Notes

The context of an earlier entry suggested that Bromhead may have been a parliamentarian veteran, thrown onto parish charity. The Justices noted that Bromhead did not appear to have a legal right of settlement in any particular parish within the City of Lincoln. They ordered that he should have an allowance out of the general charge on the city. He was presently resident in St Swithin’s parish, but this residence should not be construed as legal settlement, nor charge to this or any other parish. Until a more permanent solution was found, the Justices ordered the overseers of the parishes of St Benedict’s and St Peter at Arches to pay Bromhead 6d per week each.
