ff.259-260: Ordered by the Earl of Essex, supported by a certificate under the hand of Major David Melvine, that the sum of £56 14 s. be paid to Isabell Walker, widow of Henry Walker, Melvine's quartermaster from 20 April, the day of his commission, to 20 September 1643, at which time he was slain at the battle of Newbury, being 154 days (besides £12 12 s. which he received, whereof the last 14 days' pay that the major received for a quartermaster was part). The sum is to be defalked from the arrears of Colonel Long's regiment.
