Fol. 39: The Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor for the parish of St Andrew Holborne in Middlesex petitioned the court that Humphrey Aylett and his wife were last lawfully settled in the parish of St Andrew Holborne in London, but put their daughter Elizabeth to nurse with one Alice Ogdell in their parish. The father has since gone to serve the Commonwealth as a soldier and ‘could not be of late heard of by the said nurse’, whilst the mother was deceased. The child was thus likely to become chargeable to the parish of St Andrew Holborne in Middlesex but they requested that she be conveyed to the parish of St Andrew Holborne in London, her parents’ last legal place of settlement. Their request was granted, provided that the churchwardens of the London parish could not show any reason to the contrary.
