Notes

Fols 38-9: Lt-Col Henry Pilkington, who served his late Majesty and his Majesty that now is, petitioned the court that he had previously awarded a pension of £5 per annum but was currently two quarters in arrears. He had a certificate to support his case signed by ‘p[er]sons of hono[u]r and Quality’ and the previous Treasurer, Thomas Rowe Esq., affirmed that this was true and that he had previously paid him his pension. It transpired that Mr Shelton, a previous Clerk of the Peace, had not entered the order in the book because Pilkington had not paid him the money to do this. It was ordered that Pilkington should be confirmed in his pension and receive the two quarters’ arrears.
