Henry James of Chepping Wycomb Forrens petitioned and produced a certificate that he served Charles II as a “Quarter Master in the Troop of Captain William Helling in the Regiment of the right honourable Major gen[er]all Morgan and was disbanded by Act of Parliament in the year 1660. And that he is since become aged & uncapable to work whereby he is reduced to great want & poverty.’ His petition as supported by a certificate from Captain Helling. James was ordered a pension of 40 s. per annum, to begin at this sessions plus 2 s. 6 d. for a copy of this order.
