Notes

Bennett had faithfully served his late Majesty of blessed memory many years in the time of the late wars, under the command of Major Lockton in Sir William Pelham’s regiment. He had suffered imprisonment, and received many wounds in the service, which had disabled him from getting a living, and thereby maintaining himself, his wife and children. Supported by a certificate written by Thomas Elie, gent. [A Henry Bennett of Lincolnshire registered as an indigent officer in 1663, declaring that he had served as a quartermaster in Sir William Pelham’s horse – 1663 List, column 104.]
