'Whereas the dwelling house of one [blank] Hancock (whose husband John Hancock was lately imprest for a souldier and sent away in the Parliaments service) standeth partly in the parish of Portslade and partly in the parish of Aldrington, it is ordered that she shall have from henceforth an allowance of twelve pence weekly of the parish of Portslade to be payd by the churchwardens and overseers for the poore of the sayd parish’.
