George Predith of Sutton St Michael petitioned the court that he was for more than 20 years in service of King Charles I and King Charles II ‘whereby he is become lambe and hath not beene able to worke for a long time to gaine any Livelyhood’. Ordered to receive 8 d. per week from the overseers of the poor in his parish, which was followed by an order that he be allowed 20 s. p.a. as his pension out of the county treasury.
