‘Whereas the nine & twenti[e]th day of Aprill in the yeare of o[u]r Lord one thousand six hundred & forty seaven S[i]r Valentine Pell knight Thomas Wyndham John Coke Rob[er]t Rich & Thomas Sotherton Esq[uire]s ordered eighteene pence weekely to be payd to George Curtler an old maimed soldier by the Churchwardens o& overseers of Hildolveston towards maintenance as by the said order more at large appeareth, which hath not bene payd as the said Curtler saith. Therefore he peticoned to this Court & prayed to have the said eighteene eighteene pence weekely payd unto him or a yearly pencon allowed him which this Court referred to the Justices of the lymitt and ordered that the Churchwardens & ov[er]seers of Hildolveston aforesaid should pay to the said Curtler the eighteene pence weekely w[i]the arrears accordinge to the aforesaid order or shew cause to the contrary, And if there be cause, to bynd over the said Churchwardens to appeare at the next Sessions If they pr[e]sume refuse to p[e]rforme the order made as above.’
