Item 156 in the rolls: He was examined on 27 June 1656 and confessed 'that he was in the Last Engadgment for the King of Scotts at Worcester, [and] being there wounded was brought to Bristoll a prisoner and there discharged, since which time he hath beene in Cornwall, where he did labour when people sett him to worke’, but has otherwise sought to maintain himself through begging. Cockin testifies that he has not been at the parish where he was born ‘by the space of twelve yeares’.
