‘Uppon the presentment of a list under the hands of Sir John Fitzjames knight & George Hulsey, Esquire, two Justices of the Peace for this county in pursuance of an order of this Court made att the general sessions of the peace held at Bridport the 7th of October 1662, of such indigent souldiers within the division of Sherborne, as shewed themselves loyall & faithfull in the late wars & never deserted the sayd service; It is ordered by this court that the Treasurer for the westerne parte of this county, doe for the present reliefe of the sayd souldiers, & which are mencioned in a list hereunto annexed pay unto each of them the summe of 20 s. And this court will hereafter take it into further consideracion how to settle pencions on them according to their demeritts [sic] & as is directed in the late Act of Parliament.'
