Notes

The court being this day informed by the humble petition of Elizabeth Stokes of Forebridge, widow, that her late husband, being maimed in the Parliament’s service, had a pension of 40 s. a year allowed him, to be paid by the treasurers for the maimed soldiers; and that her said husband is since killed by misfortune, and has left the petitioner two small children to maintain, which she is altogether unable to do, and therefore humbly prays for continuance of the said stipend towards the relief of herself and the education of her children. It is ordered that the churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the parish of Castle church shall take the petitioner’s condition into their considerations, and provide for her succour according to law, and as her present necessities require.
