"Whereas by an order at the Sessions … held … ye 11th of January last Richard Bettey being a souldier in the service of the common wealth & haveing beene wounded in ye said service had 20 s. granted him towards his maintenance, since this court is informed that he is dead, It is therefore ordered that the Treasurer for the maymed souldiers doe forthwith pay unto Elizabeth Bettey his wife twenty shillings for reliefe of her selfe & three children."
