Notes

At the last General Sessions at Pontefract, Whittell petitioned that Mrs Portington (deceased) had not been paid her pension and he had maintained her for twelve months at his own charge before she died. The JPs were credibly informed that the money had not been paid and a greater sum remained in the hands of Sir Thomas Yarbrough, late Treasurer for Maimed Soldiers. Yarbrough was ordered to pay £25 to Whittell at the next General Sessions.
