Notes

Syde, noted as a labourer, petitioned that he had lived in Baddesley Clinton 'in a very meane condition' for the last 34 years, and throughout the 'late Warrs & until the present' has been and is still 'very unjustly taxed in all paym[en]ts' because he was a soldier who served in Charles I's army, 'to the great impov[er]ishinge of the Peticon[e]r, his wife also beinge aged & blind'. He asked that he be freed from all taxes in the future. Syde's case was referred to Thomas Archer Esq to investigate. If he found Syde's claims to be true, then he was to be free from the payment of all taxes and levies in the future.
