Was in parliament's service under Sir William Waller and later in Portsmouth garrison. Later served at sea upon the Irish coast, where he was disabled. He was brought ashore at Portsmouth and cared for in the house of Patience Markes in Gosport, where 'he suddenly fell sicke by meanes of his former griefes, being not able to helpe himselfe and is like to live a cripple'. Ordered that he be given a gratuity and transported to Fareham, his home parish, and to be maintained by said the parish.
