The order book notes the petition of Edward Barker, an old soldier in the Tower companies and for the Parliament, and as he alleges, born in Walsall, for relief in the county and a pass and certificate from Lieutenant-Colonel Brisco in his behalf. Ordered 20 s. out of the county surplus. [John Biscoe was a senior officer in Colonel John Barkstead’s regiment. Barkstead was Lieutenant of the Tower of London from August 1652 to May 1659.]
