Littlebury had faithfully served his Majesty as a sergeant in Lt-Col ‘John Mayne’s’ company of foot under the command of the Duke of Albemarle. They had suffered great losses and had been brought to a low condition. [Sir John Mayney held several royalist commands during the Civil Wars, but is not listed in Dalton’s army lists for the post-Restoration period.]
