Notes

Hanby submitted himself to the court and acknowledged the wrong he did to the JPs for this Riding in his petition preferred to the Lord High Treasurer of England. He had written a letter of recantation to the Lord Treasurer’s secretary. However, it appeared to the court that Hanby was always very loyal to the late king and his Majesty that now is, and is now indigent. This court therefore recommended his condition to be considered at the next general sessions of the peace to be held at Richmond.
