Warrant notes that a previous warrant dated 18 January 1645 to pay £4 18s. 0d. to Morgan, trooper under Captain Clerke, in partial settlement of his arrears and to purchase a horse, has not been settled in full: ‘he had only a brown horse of four pounds price delivered him by Mr Cole in lieu of the said warrant.’ Morgan lost the horse in the 'skirmish' at Whilton Bridge, and afterwards was held prisoner at Banbury Castle. Ordered, therefore, that Morgan receive the full settlement of his arrears 'towards the furnishing of him with horse and arms'. Order addressed to ‘the sequestrators added for our assistance’. Warrant signed by Rol: St John [Sir Rowland St John KB], Edward Harby and Thomas Pentlow. Receipt acknowledged 3 May 1645, apparently by the autograph signature of Morgan.
