It appears by the petition of Captain Arthur Ward and several certificates that he served Charles I ‘in all his nine yeares warrs and hath totally lost the use of his right hand and part of his left’ and several times was taken prisoner and banished ‘and never forfeited his loyalty’; now in old age he is reduced to penury. It is ordered that he may be admitted a pensioner and receive £5 per annum from the treasurers of Macclesfield, Bucklow and Northwich.
