"Whereas it appeareth … that Aron Evans of Plymouth was a souldier in the Garrison there under the comand of Captain Arthur Gay who served the common wealth faithfully in which service he received a desperate & dangerous wound from ye enemy by a shott with a bullett through his mouth soe that he is disabled to follow his calling to gett his livelihood, It is therefore ordered that the Treasurer … doe from henceforth till further order pay … fifty shillings yearly for his stipend by quarterly payments & he to have twelve shillings and six pence for his present maintenance."
