Notes

Cartwright faithfully and diligently served his late Majesty of ever-blessed memory in the late unhappy wars. He was a trooper in the regiment of Colonel Anthony Ayre, under the command of Lt-Col Sir Hugh Cartwright. He continued in the service all the time of the war, and never served the late usurped power. Now grown old and infirm. [Colonel Anthony Eyre’s regiment served chiefly in the Newark garrison during the First Civil War].
