Previously received a pension from weekly rates established by the quarter sessions upon parishes in Newcastle. However, 'upon the petition of Dorothy Carr, relict of the said John Carr, setting forth her great necessity, and showing that the said order was expired, & therefore prayed that it might be renewed’, it was ordered the rate on the parishes be renewed for a further year and pensions continued to be paid to widows whose husbands had been 'slain in the service of his Majesties Royall Father and the said parties are left destitute of a competent subsistence.’
