‘Upon a peticon pr[e]ferred to this Court by Ann Dawes shewing that she formerly had a pencon granted her by virtue of an order of this Sessions by reason of her husband being prest to serve the States & died in the said service, And that by reason of the said accidente of a suddaine & sad fire she lost all & her order burnt, And ev[er] since the towne refused to pay her her pencon by the said order granted, upon which Complaint the Court com[m]issertaing her sad condicon doe order that the Churchwardens & overseers of the poore of the towne of Skoulton to allow her eighteen pence weekly & ev[er]y weeke according to her former order till they upon iust grounds shew reason to the contrary.’
