Noted as a blacksmith. A previous order had been made that the inhabitants of Birmingham were to pay Day (who was a soldier in parliament's service and received 'several hurts') 14 d. weekly towards the maintenance of himself, his wife and three children. The court was now informed that only 4 d. weekly had been paid for 'some parte of the same tyme, but nothing at all since Bartholomew day last, whereby the said Day his wife and children are falne into greate want'. Ordered that the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of Birmingham should henceforth pay Day 14 d. weekly 'until they shall shew good cause to the contrary' and that they should also pay the arrears from the original order.
