The second certificate for Martin Prince of Barwick in Elmet, West Riding of Yorkshire, January 1670

<Intitaled an act for the releefe of Poore and Maimed officers & soldiers &c>
Martin Prince of Barwick in Elmett in the west Riding of the County of yorke; beinge examined before us; as is prescribed by an act of Parliament made in the Fowerteenth yeare of his Ma[jes]ties Reigne that now is saith; that his Captain vnder whome he serued, Captaine Richard Udall is dead; and that his lieutennant William Blitheman is likewise dead; Therefore vpon examination vpon his Corporall Oath he saith, that he was ingaged in his late Ma[jes]ties seruice of Blessed Memory and serued under Captaine Udall as drummer and was wounded at Edgehill in his head and was wounded at the storminge of Bristoll in his shoulder; and was wounded again at Alesforth in a fight with Waller in his knee of which he was euer since Lame; that he continued in his Maj[es]ties seruice constantly from the beginninge before Edghill Battle, vntill the surrenderinge of Oxford; that by a certificate vnder the hand of diuerse of the most Credible p[er]sons where he liues he neuer deserted his Ma[jes]ties seruice, but continued faithfull & loyall to his Interest; Wherefore we doe recomend the s[ai]d Martin Prince as Capable to be relieued by the s[ai]d act dated this 23th day of Aprill 1663.
