The certificate for Robert ap Edward of Esclusham, Denbighshire, 10 September 1663

These are to certifie all those whome it may concerne that the bearer hereof Robert ap Edward of Esclusham in the County of Denbigh hath byn a souldier for his late Ma[jes]ty and went to Ireland in the company of Captaine Edward Broughton now Sir Edward Broughton Regiment and when hee came ou[er] for England the bearer continued in my Reigment in Ireland and came ou[er] a souldier with mee & continued still a souldier and was at the releife of New=Arke and at the takeing of Liverpoole & Boulton and at the Battle neare Yorke where hee receaved diu[er]s hurts and was {taken} prisoner and stript and is very poore & indigent & hath an aged and sickely wife whoe hee is {illegible} and as I conceave hee {illegible} haueinge cont{inued} {illegible} w[hi]ch I le{ave} {illegible} Tenth day of September in the yeare of our Lord 1663

Wee doe knowe that the bearer Rob[er]t ap Edward is a poore man not able by his labour to maintaine himself & his wife and hath beene allwayes faithfull to his Ma[jes]ty & his late father.
