The order for William Leaver the elder of Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, 13 July 1704

Med[summer] Sessions 1704

Vpon the Petition of William Leaver th[e] eld[e]r of Aylesbury in this County to this Co[u]rt this pr[e]sent sessions therein setting forth That in considerac[i]on of his service & sufferings vnd in the Late Civill Warrs in the tyme of his most sacred Maj[es]tie King Charles the First he had beene allowed by this Court out of the County stock a penc[i]on of 40 s. p[er] ann[um] which had beene constantly paide to him to his Greate Comfort & support That hee is now Eighty yeares of age & vpwards & is become very feeble & almost Blind & thereby rend[e]red helplesse poore & a further object of Christian Charity & therefore prayed that his penc[i]on might be Augmented Whereupon this Court takeing into theire Considerac[i]on the Case & Circumstances of the s[ai]d W[illia]m Leaver & being satisfyed of the truth of the Allegac[i]on in his Petic[i]on It is therevpon Ordered by this Court That the Treasurers for this County or one of them doe out of the County moneys in theire hands pay vnto the s[ai]d W[illia]m Leaver as an Augmentac[i]on to the penc[i]on of 40 s. p[er] ann[um] he now hath the further yearely sum[m]e of Forty shillings by Foure q[uarte]rly paym[en]ts att the Fower Gen[er]all Quarter sessions of the Peace to be holden for this County the first paym[en]t thereof to begin & be made this pr[e]sent Sessions & soe to continue from Sessions to Sessions vntill further Order.
