Whereas by an Ord[e]r of Mich[ael]mas Sessions last it was referr’d to vs to Examine the seuerall p[er]sons within the three hundreds of Willibrooke, Polbrooke  & Navisford in the County of North[amp]ton[shire], that are qualified to receiue penc[i]ons according to the said Ord[e]r: And whereas att Epiphany Sessions following A returne was accordingly made wherein John Johnson of Easton in the County of North[amp]ton[shire], weauer, And John Butler of Yarwell in the said County labo[u]r[er] were (amongst oth[e]rs) returned as p[er]sons qualified to receiue penc[i]ons, And were likewise vpon Examinac[i]on att Epiphany Sessions aforesaid allowed off & admitted to their said Penc[i]ons, since which Tyme their names haue been put out, And their Penc[i]ons denied to paid to them, Wee therefore whose names are herevnto subscribed his Ma[jes]ties Justices of peace (amongst Oth[e]rs) for the County of North[amp]ton[shire], Doe hereby Certifie, That itt hath been made appeare to vs that the said John Johnson & John Butler, did serue his late Ma[jes]tie Charles the first of ever blessed memory as souldiers all the Tyme of the late warre, And therein receiued seu[er]all wounds beside the losse of their goods & imprison[en]t: which they sustained And hath Continued ever since faithfull to his Ma[jes]ties Cause & interest By reason whereof wee judge them to bee p[er]sons qualified & very well deseruing to receiue penc[i]ons Given vnd[e]r o[u]r hands & seales the 30th day of April Anoq[ue] D[o]m[ini] 1668.

John Johnson allowed 40 s. p[er] annu[m]

John Butler the same to bee paid by the Treasurer of the East division

<Castor May ye 10th 1668.>

<These are to Certifie all whom it may Concerne yt I was att Apthorpe w[i]th ye Earle of Westmorland and Mr Tresham when ye persons aboue named were allowed & qualified for there receiuing theire pensions, & to my owne knowledge they were both very early in his Ma[jes]ties service, & Continued very faythfull.>
