The first certificate for Martin Prince of Barwick in Elmet, West Riding of Yorkshire, January 1670

To the Right Worshipfull his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace for the West ryding of ye county of Yorke
We the parishioners of Barwicke in Elmett do Humbly certify that Alvaray Daniel of this parish who had a pension of Fourty shillings p[er] ann[um] as a lame souldier, was Buried the 23th of December last and that the bearer hereof Martine Prince of this p[ar]ish was a faithfull souldier under his late Majesty of blessed memory, from Edge Hill battell vntill the surrendering of Oxford and never revolted but was wounded and maimed in the service as by the testimoniall of some of his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace taken from his corporall oath may more fully appeare. Wherfore in regard of his loyalty impotency age and poverty we do humbly desire that the said pension formerly paid vnto the said Alvaray Daniel deceased may be setled vpon him &c.
