The certificate for William Kaye of Ewes, West Riding of Yorkshire, 19 April 1677

To his maj[es]ties Justices of Peace or to any of any of them We Whose names are subscribed on the behalf of William Kaye of Ewes in the Parish of Almondburie & Countie of Yorke doe humbly certifie you that the said William Kaye hath for many yeares beene exercised in warres both vnder our late sou[er]aigne Lord King Charles the first & also vnder his maj[es]tie that now is in which warres he the said Will[ia]m Kaye yo[u]r Worshippes poore petitioner is soe wounded & maimed that he is altogether vnable to worke for his maintaineance yo[u]r said poore petitioner hath beene for a certaine time at St Thomas Hospitall in Southricke to the intent he might haue beene cured of his said wounds But beeing returned home ag[ai]n finds himselfe not cured of the same Also yo[u]r said poore petitioner by reason of his poverty hath not any thing to defray his charges up to the said Hospitall Wherefore we humbly entreate your worshippes or any of you to take this poore mans Condition into yo[u]r considerac[i]on & grant him yo[u]r pase that thereby he may haue reliefe in his said Journey if it may please God yo[u]r said poore petitioner may haue healeing & We shall eu[er] pray for yo[u]r Worshippes happieness.
