The certificate for William Wakeford of Whitley, Kent, 30 September 1661

These are to certify that the bearer hereof William Wakeford of Whitly in the parish of Sevenock was a souldier in my Regiment in Colchester when it was beseiged beseiged in the yeare 1647 [sic.] where he performed his duty to his King and Country, and in the defence of the Towne received a shott in the thigh. He is now growne old, and being maimed in his Ma[jes]ties seruice he desires some releiefe out of the County-stock.
