The certificate for William Toone of St Albans, Hertfordshire, 23 July 1662

Theis are to Certefie unto all whom it may Conerne; That Will[ia]m Toone of St: Albans in the County of Hertf[ord], did formerly lyve in this Towne of St: Albans, in good fashion, but since the late unhappy wars (wherein hee faithfully served our late Soveraigne Lord Kinge Charles the first of ever blessed memorie) hee is fallen into greate decay and want, and through decay of his limbes and sight, and other ympfecc[i]ons w[hi]ch are belonginge unto him hee is not able to acquire his owne lyvelhood, hee is truly Loyall, and indigent, and hath never to o[u]r best knowledge deserted his Ma[jes]t[y’]s or his blessed Fathers Service, duringe the late tymes of Rebellion and Usurpaton, and hee hath not any sufficient Livelyhood of his owne, Therefore wee recomend him as a fittinge obiect of Releife amongst the rest of his Ma[jes]t[y’]s indigent Souldiers, Witnes o[u]r hands and seales the 23th day of July 1662:
