The certificate for William Tassell, Lancashire, Michaelmas 1668

To the wor[shi]ppfull the kings ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace att ye Sessions of the peace now held att Manchester
Wee whose names are herevnder Subscribed, beinge one field officer and two Com[m]issioned officers of the Regiment of the Hon[oura]ble Col[lone]l Sir Edward Rossitter doe here by Certify all Persons who are or herebyin may bee Concerned That William Tassell hath Faithfully served his ma[jes]tie as a souldier in Captaine Will[iam] Lynleyes Troop of horse in the Regiment aforesaide in his ma[jes]ties Army vnder the Comand of his Excellency the Lord duke of Albermarle Captaine Generall of his ma[jes]ties Armyes.
Now soe it is may it please yo[u]r wor[shi]pps That whereas the saide Will[iam] Tassell was by an Act of Parliament (Intituled an Act for the speedy disbandinge of the Army and Garrisons of his Kingdome hee was p[er]mitted Peaceably to passe vnto Manchester in the County of Lancaster and to set vpp Practice and exercise such Traide Mystery or Occupac[i]on as by the saide Act hee was enabled Now hee is since removed to Boulton in the Moores in the County aforesaide and desires yo[u]r wor[shi]pps to Grant him an Order for to enioy the same Priviledge hee had to sett vpp and Practice such traid as by the same Act hee was formerly enabled to Follow and Imploy himselfe in And hee will bee obleidged to pray for yo[u]r wor[shi]pps prosperitie.
