Wee whose names are subscribed doe hereby certifie that the Bearer hereof William Punchard of the Towne of Totnes Cordwyer hath lyved in this Towne of Totnes by the space of Thirteen or Fowrteen yeares and by his industry in his calling and occupac[i]on hath lyved in good esteeme & honest conversac[i]on and mayntayned his Charge and hath ymployed and kept at worke dyvers Apprentises & other seruants and suffered much prejudice by the soldiers of the kings p[ar]tie in the late troubles in respect of his good affecc[i]ons to the Parliam[en]t In testimony whereof we haue subscribed our names. October 31th 1648
