Gentlemen,

The Bearer Capt[ain] William Grove having bin alwayes very active in the service of his Ma[jes]ty of blessed memorie, and his Ma[jes]ty that now is in order to his happy restauration, w[hi]ch is nott vnknowne to divers Gentlemen of yo[u]r County, butt being weakned in his body & wholly ruined in his Estate, and by reason of age vnable to doe any thinge for a livelihood, I make bold to Recom[m]end him to yo[u]r favour (being hee went first out of yo[u]r shire into his Ma[jes]t[y’]s service) and desire you will please to afford him a competent pension during his life as you are inabled by Act of Parliam[en]t. By w[hi]ch meanes you may preserve him from starving, and I shall take itt as a Respect done to
