The certificate for William Browne of Standish, Lancashire, 20 November 1673

Nouember the 20th 1673
Wee whose names are subscribed being Inhabitants of the Townshipe & Parishe of Standish doe certifie whom it may consern that Will[ia]m Holland late of the same Towne who was a pencioner and had a yearely allowanc as an Indigent souldier is lately desesed. And also That Will[ia]m Browne of the same Towne was a foote sould[ie]r In the servic of o[u]r late King Charles the first of ever blesed memorie & in the Regim[en]t & foote Compeny of Col[one]l Edward Chisnall and did truly & fathfully demaine himselfe in ye said service soe long as the said Regim[en]t did continue. And also that hee the said Will[ia]m Browne is lame and not well able to worke for his Liuinge nor hath any estate wherby to maintaine himself and also doeth veryly belieue hee is a feet [sic.] Parson for such beneffeet. Wherevnto wee haue put o[u]r hands the day & yeare aboue written.
